About the Project

Community Event Full Team
Mine closure plans are built to last generations. Climate change is raising the bar.

Yet the tools and guidance to meet it are still catching up.

The Climate Ready Mine Project is working to help close that gap – by asking hard questions that don't have easy answers, bringing diverse voices and perspectives together, and by creating, compiling and sharing knowledge, tools, and resources to make better-informed decisions in closure planning.

Led by the University of Guelph and RFS Energy, with support from the Giant Mine Oversight Board. Funded by Natural Resources Canada.

About the Climate Ready Mine Project

The Climate Ready Mine Project is a collaboration between the University of Guelph, RFS Energy and with the support from the Giant Mine Oversight Board to understand how components of mine closure plans can be assessed for their adaptive capacity and resilience to the long-term impacts of climate change.
